The Savior would declare, in no uncertain terms, that you are a daughter or son of the Almighty God. Your Heavenly Father is the most glorious being in the universe, full of love, joy, purity, holiness, light, grace, and truth. And one day He wants you to inherit all He has. It is the reason why you’re on the earth—to learn, grow, and progress and become everything your Father in Heaven has created you for.
He reminds us of the first truth that we have were taught as children which is that we are children of God. As children of God, we are invited to become disciples of Christ and become like unto God Himself. To become a disciple however we have to learn to be free thinking and how to use our agency for good. We have to learn how to make righteous decisions when no one is watching, when there’s no rule book, and when we are tempted to do otherwise.
When Jesus was on the Earth, He spent all His time teaching His disciples. once he had confidence that they had a firm understanding, he left them but he didn’t leave them completely alone. He left them with the Holy Ghost.
The Holy Ghost is our middleman for communication with God. When we learn correct principles, we feel God‘s love which is also what we call feeling the spirit. He is the reason we have personal revelation.
This is in my opinion, the main goal of this booklet. Now that our checklist of dues and don’ts have been removed, we are invited to make wise decisions with the truths we have been given. This booklet is an invitation to raise ourselves to a higher standard through the use of a higher law. We can raise ourselves to this standard and live in a higher and holier way. this is the sifting of the wheat and the tares. God needs to know who is on his side, who will rise to the occasion and who will participate wholeheartedly in the gathering of Israel. This is not an easy task but our heavenly father and his son have confidence in us and will never leave us alone. We can call on him at all times wherever we are and he will give us strength. As Dieter F Uchtdorf said, “Jesus Christ is the strength of youth”. Our talents faith and strength will increase as we reach out and seek personal revelation.
“When your greatest desire is to let God prevail [in your life], … many decisions become easier. … Many issues become nonissues! You know how best to groom yourself. You know what to watch and read, where to spend your time, and with whom to associate. You know what you want to accomplish. You know the kind of person you … want to become.”
As President Nelson says, our life can be more fulfilling, more joyful, and our decisions can be easier when we are centered on Christ.
In the sacred name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
