Background Check
Required for all members working with minors
California law recently added a requirement that Church employees and volunteers who work with minors to undergo a criminal background check. This page provides basic information to help you through this process. (You may be interested to know that the background check searches only for certain serious offenses, not for traffic or other minor
issues.)
The Stake will be holding 3 events in September providing the Live Scan fingerprinting service needed for these background checks.
Who is required to get a background check?

Stake presidencies
-
Bishoprics and branch presidencies
-
Stake and ward primary workers
-
Stake and ward Young Men and Young Women leaders, advisors, instructors, and camp directors
-
Seminary teachers and secretaries (including regular substitutes)

Any other person who may work with youth or children for 32 hours in a year.
Note this Background Check need only be done once. If you would like to help in the publicschool system – this check will satisfy their needs, you will already be covered!

September 7th , 6:30-8pm - Bushard Building
September 21st , 6:30-8pm – 17th Street Building
September 28th , 6:30-8pm – Stake Center

Go to a stake Live Scan service event for fingerprinting

Wait for the results to be sent to church headquarters.
We have completed the top portion of the form with the necessary information. You must complete the Applicant Information portion of the attached Request for Live Scan Service. This includes filling in your name, alias, birthday, sex, height, weight, eye color, hair color, birthplace, Social Security Number, Driver’s License Number, and address, and then sign and date where requested.
The Stake will host 3 Live Scan Events:

Bring your completed form and personal ID. The process should take 5-10 minutes. You will not be charged anything; the Stake will pay for the Live Scan.
You will not receive the results. They will be sent to Church headquarters where an
individual approved by the State of California as a Custodian of Records will review it and mark on your membership record whether you are eligible to work with minors. No other information is recorded. Your bishop or stake president will notify you if you are not eligible to work with minors. You can decide whether to discuss the circumstances further with your priesthood leaders.
