Sister Roberts - March 14, 2022

Hellooooooo everybody! (Please read that like Gru from Despicable Me) This was a GOOD week! Lots to do!!

First of all... transfer news! I'm staying, but I'm getting a new companion! Sister Smith! She seems super cute, but more on that next week I guess

We ate SO much food this week on Wednesday and Saturday alone. 4 meals on each day is not the move. No bueno. On Wednesday we had a lunch appointment lesson with Trinity, who I will talk about after complaining about being fed too well. We met her at Cracker Barrel and that alone filled me up for the day, but we had a dinner appointment right after. MAJOR food baby. On Saturday we had a lesson set up with a woman to go over at night and bake a cake with her and she texted us asking how spaghetti and salad and garlic bread sounded. (Which the answer is amazing except when we already have a scheduled dinner of Hawaiian haystacks with someone immediately before). So naturally we did what any missionary would do and didn't tell her and had two dinners. Food baby twins! SO that was fun.

Side note: Our mission always talks about the 'TSAM 40' and gaining so much weight because we're fed so well. I would like to note that I, in fact, have not gained a single pound since being here, thank you very much. Though I probably wouldn't tell you if I did.

A little side note about Trinity! She's transgender, so she used to be a man, but now prefers to be Trinity. She had a pretty dress on when we met that I lowkey want to steal but that's besides the point. She was concerned about our church and our beliefs regarding the LGBT+ community (valid) but honestly in my eyes it's just helping people come closer to Jesus Christ, right? She's been rejected by so many before in the Christian faith, but who are we to decide who Jesus Christ loves and accepts? So I shared 2 Nephi 26:33, "For none of these iniquities come of the Lord; for he doeth that which is good among the children of men' and he doeth nothing save it be plain into the children of men; and he inviteth them all to come unto him and partake of his goodness; and he denieth none that come unto him, black and white, bond and free, male and female, and he remembereth the heathen; and all are alike unto God, both Jew and Gentile." ALL ARE ALIKE UNTO GOD. She is so desperate for a community and for people to love her, and she has such a great foundation of faith in Christ that I'm just grateful for this opportunity I have to meet her and help her grow her joy. We had exchanges again this week! I went back to UTSA campus and street contacted the heck out of those students. It's so awesome! I miss college. We did a lot of service on Saturday helping chop down trees. I got to do the whole "Timberrrrr" thing which is fun. Okay so missionaries aren't actually allowed to come closer to any chainsaw or axe so I wasn't doing the chopping just the hauling and I don't think the word 'timber' ever had or ever will come out of my mouth but maybe one day I'll live in the woods and be a lumberjack. Fulfill my dreams. One day... I feel like so much more happened but I can't think of anything else besides the fact that the transfer is over and nobody came to church. But we worked so hard and found so many people! I think in these last six weeks our teaching pool doubled which is SO cool! So many people are looking for Christ!!

Love y'all!!
