Ciao! From Under The Hot Sicilian Sun
Updated: Aug 21, 2022
As the Sicilian sun is turning up the heat...should be close to 100 this week.
I have been doing well these past few weeks eating great food and working hard. I have been out for almost a year so I'll just give you a quick update about what I'm doing and what I have been thinking about recently.
I have been talking with a lot of people on the street about the doctrine of Christ and inviting people to grow spiritually. That is a pretty hard thing to do sometimes, especially in a language you just picked up 7 months ago.
I am teaching many people and everyone that I talk to is unique. I feel the love God has for them and sometimes I feel that it's necessary to tell them of that love he has for that individual. If you want to know more about God, text the missionaries. I am so glad I have this chance to serve a mission, it is a sacrifice I see my friends ending 3rd class year at the Academy, but I am sure I need to be here helping these people.
I think I have helped more Catholics return to their faith than I have had people join my faith. I think that is unique to my mission here. The modern-day apostle Oaks told us when he visited us that we are to bring people to have a relationship with Jesus Christ. He said, "not everyone you teach will join the church (la Chiesa di Gesù Cristo Dei Santi degli Ultimi Giorni) but if you help them strengthen their faith in Christ you will have done a great work for them in which they will be eternally grateful".
I think I have accomplished that to a large degree. Though I think you can be happier with the truth this church teaches at the end of the day the most important thing is faith in Jesus Christ.
It is my goal to baptize people as members of this church at the end of the day, something I tell people I teach right off the bat, it just happens that with their renewed faith in Christ they bring it back to something familiar, in this case, the church of their fathers.
Anyways that was a long enough update, now it's your turn. Let me know what's going on in your life :)
