When I was 8 years old I was baptized and became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. At that time I made a covenant with my Heavenly Father that I would take upon me the name of Christ, keep His commandments and always remember Him.
In John chapter 8:12 Jesus says, "I am the light of the world; he that follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life." Everyone knows you can see better when it is light than when it is darkness. Jesus Christ helps us to see. He lights our way. He shows us how to live in this life as we follow His example an teachings, He lightens our burdens and sad times as we feel His love and compassion. We feel hope because of His atonement when we can repent. He enlightens our minds to recognize truth and goodness
Elder Bednar said, "In every season our lives, in all circumstances we may encounter, and in each challenge that we may face, Jesus Christ is the light that dispels fear, provides assurance and direction, and engenders enduring peace and joy."
In Matthew 5:14-15 Jesus says, "Ye are the light of the world, a city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house." We shine that light that Jesus gave us when we try to love as he did, when we share our testimony, when we defend truth, and when we serve others. Elder Ballard said, " Love others in small and large ways, and you will make this world better and brighter.
I am thankful for those who share light, love and goodness with me, and I am thankful for my Savior Jesus Christ that perfect source of light. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
