Great things are brought to pass by Elder Lim

Brothers and sisters i'm Elder Lim and I'm excited to be here. So today I was invited to share my testimony and I'm not sure how long it's supposed to be. So, I will go with what I know to be true on. But before I start, I just want to introduce myself. I'm from a family of seven and i'm the second oldest. I'm from Montgomery, Alabama. And I am originally from South Korea. Before coming to Mile Square Park Ward I served in the Korean branch and the Cordata Park Ward. I'm happy to be back in this building.

Today I want to share my testimony on how from small and simple things great things are brought pass and I just want to start with the scripture. It says In Alma 37:6-7 " Now ye may suppose that this is foolishness in me; but behold I say unto you, that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass, and the Lord God doth work by means to bring about his great and eternal purposes, the small means in many instances, doth compound the wise and the Lord God doth work by means to bring about his great and eternal purposes; and by very small means the Lord doth confound the wise and bringeth about the salvation of many souls.

I just love this scripture and I know that its true because I felt that in my life. When my family first came to America, I was eight years old and we left everything back in Korea. So, we as a family of seven lived in a small apartment, in BYU student housing. And I remember Christmas came and I was pretty immature and we went shopping and I was like, oh that looks super cool. I want to get that. And then my older brother's like don't say that. We don't have money. So I was just kind of roasted and then, yeah. I was kind of sad and I'm sure my parents who knew the situation were even more sad about the situation we had. But during Christmas the next morning, we woke up and we found lifesavers in front of our house and that was amazing for us.

And that was something that has to stayed with me my whole life, It was something small. It was from my upstair neighbors and they just had a thought to just give us a lifesavers. And we are excited, but I'm pretty sure my parents who saw that was even more excited and more happy. So, I know that thing that they did was small for them, but to us, it meant a lot. And I know that as we go throughout our lives and we go around helping people in small ways, even just by smiling or maybe getting lifesavers like us. Um, it can mean so much because I still remember it to this day.

I just want to share one last scripture D & C 127:17. It says, "therefore dearly beloved brethren, let us cheerfully do all things that lie in our power, and then may we stand still with the utmost assurance to see the Salvation of God and for his arm to be revealed.

God just requires us to do the best we can, and then from that we can see miracles. I know that God is a loving Heavenly Father and that he knows each one of us. I know that Joseph Smith truly restored this church. That we can know this truth, by the Holy Ghost by reading the Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon has blessed my life so much. It brought me so much peace and joy. I know that Brother Nelson is a prophet of God guiding us in our day. I just wanted to leave this testimony with all of you in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
