Sister Johnson - 1/27/2024

It has been a pretty good week! The weather got so nice for a few days. We had sunny skies and weather in the 70s. Sadly we are coming back to rainy and cool weather but to be honest, I actually love that weather too.

This week has had its ups and downs with finding. We are getting more and more creative though, and God is definitely giving us miracles. One of them was Prince. He was someone formally taught. We decided to stop by and one was home. As we were walking away, here he comes walking up the stairs. We started chatting with him, figure out who he was, and right there had a 20 minute lesson with him about the Book of mormon and the power it can bring into his life. He was interested in continuing to learn, we just have to get in better contact with him because he is pretty bad at communication in general.

As you know, we have been store contacting quite a bit as well, but we were getting sick of our usual spots. We found this one grocery store and everyone is so nice there and decently receptive. It is also a lot cheaper so we may have to start shopping there.

Another way that we are getting creative with finding is teaching piano lessons! I had my first lesson this week with a 13 year old girl named addison. She is so sweet, and needs to practice more..... hahahaha. But we started with a prayer and I invited her to the youth activities! She and her sister are going to start coming. Their family is pretty spiritual but doesn't have a church that they go to yet. So I have already started to invite them and focus on the savior during our lessons! I am actually having a lot of fun doing it and it is forcing me to practice myself so that we can play the duets.

HUGE MIRACLE! We have a member, Sister Koch, she is a little older and comes to church when she is able and has the strength. She has taken in a guy named Cody basically as her grandson, and let him live at her house and helped him get a job etc. She has been pretty influential in helping him turn his life around and get on better paths. They have been reading the book of mormon together and we have actually been wanting to start meeting with him.... with all that being said. We are walking into Walmart and Cody says to Sister Koch, "wow that girl is tall!" Of course it was Sister Gregson and I walking in and so she waved us over! Right there in front of the girl scout cookie table, we opened up the scriptures and testified of the power and personal relationship with Christ that will come as he reads the book of mormon. It was awesome. He committed to coming with Sister Koch to church and actually helping her get there! Exciting!

Well I know I have already mentioned this a few times already but I love the book of mormon, I know it is the word of God because I have read it and felt power from God flow into my life, specifically the delivering power of Jesus Christ. President Nelson said, "Without reservation I promise you that if you will prayerfully read the Book of Mormon, regardless of how many times you previously have read it, there will come into your hearts an added measure of the Spirit of the Lord. There will come a strengthened resolution to walk in obedience to his commandments, and there will come a stronger testimony of the living reality of the Son of God" I believe him and have felt that in my life. I have found strength, peace, comfort, friendship, and knowledge in sincere study of this testimony of Jesus Christ. Because I continue to study it, I know my Savior personally and he has become my best friend, not to be far away or distant, but the kind of best friend that never leaves you and always walks with and runs to you. If you want a good read, read the book of mormon. If you want a history lesson, read the book of mormon. If you want to be a little better, read the book of mormon. If you want a witness of your God, read the book of mormon. If you want more peace in your home, read the book of mormon. If you are lonely and need a friend, read the book of mormon. If you are struggling to carry on and need strength, read the book of mormon. If you want the literally power of the God to flow into your life, READ THE BOOK OF MORMON, ANOTHER TESTAMENT OF JESUS CHRIST. I can say this because I have experienced it. I know you can too.

This week, rejoicing with a Muslim family about similarities in our beliefs made me happy!
