Jesus is the light that shines in darkness-Body S.
Im sure you've noticed that flying insects are attracted to lights. Thats because when they see light it tells the bugs that they are safe to fly, and they won't run into any obstacles or predators. Just like flying insects are attracted to light, people are too. Have you ever stumbled around in the dark and stubbed your toe? Darkness can be hazardous to our spiritual and physical health. Having light in our lives is so important so we can see where we are going. Just think of a time when the electricity has gone out at night, and how good it feels when the light comes back on.
Jesus Christ is the perfect example. In John 1:5 it says "Jesus is the light that shines in the darkness." He has also taught us to be a light. We all came to this earth with the "Light of Christ." Its up to us to keep this light bright for others to see. To keep our lights burning bright, we need to fuel our lights by building our testimonies. To do this, we will become signal lights of righteousness for all to see. the Savior said, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."
There are lots of opportunities for us to let our light shine. We can be a light by being a true friend. To be a true friend, you need to be loving, and be forgiving. If someone hurts you, try to see things from their point of view, and forgive them. We should look for opportunities to complement our friends' strengths. See the best in people and encourage them to keep doing it. Listen to the Holy Ghost. Our words can make a bad situation better. The Holy Ghost can help you know what to say. Never gossip! Unkind words can hurt. Give people the benefit of the doubt, and don't say anything about others that we wouldn't want said about us. Just follow the golden rule, "do unto others as you would have done to you." We can support our friends by going to their sporting events or other things they are involved in to show we care.
We can be a light to the world. Just like turning on a light in a dark room will fill the room with light, being an example can help us light up a dark world. As we love and serve others, the Saviors light will grow brighter within you. You will attract those who are looking for light.
